One of the cool things about photography is that you can shoot just about anything and call it what ever you want. The image I am including today was shot with my iPod Touch. It was shot and processed using the Cameramatic app, which is just one of the many apps I have gotten for my iPod. There is an app for everything now. At times all the images I shoot are taken with the iPod and I hardly touch my camera. But not always.There are so many possibilities now. The song today is Ese Lunar by Kevin Johansen.

I do love photography. It’s the one thing that allows me to express myself without having to say anything. Not that there’s anything wrong with having to explain myself. It’s just that sometimes words get in the way. Tonight I don’t have a lot of words to say but I do have an image and a song to share. The song is Talking At The Same Time, by Tom Waits. This time last year I was encouraging everyone to embrace a little bit of chaos in their lives. Chaos seemed to rule all aspects of my life back then and I thought why not just swim in it instead of fighting the current. Well, this year I’m going to wish you peace, love, and harmony for the coming year, but if chaos comes knocking on your door don’t turn your back on it. Invite it in and treat it like an old lost friend. The song I am including today is Toque De Queda, by Jorge Drexler.

I’ve been in a photographic lull lately and when that happens I tend to stay away from here. Well, here’s to breaking the cycle.

There’s something fascinating yet a little bit disturbing about mannequins. Imagine walking by an empty room and seeing what looks like a person only it turns out to be a headless mannequin. Gives me the creeps every time I think about it. So here’s one for you to enjoy. The music is called Feathers, by Man Man.

Chair and Vase

This image was captured using a Lensbaby Composer. Each room has its own character and the challenge for me is to capture the image I see in the best possible light. For some people the best time of day is early morning. For others it’s late evening. For me the best light is afternoon light. I am attracted to solitude and silence and there’s something about late afternoon that always brings back memories of my childhood.

I love my new Lensbaby Composer. This image was taken with the Plastic Lens and processed in Photoshop using Nik Software’s Silver Efex Pro.  I’m still learning to use the different lens attachments but having fun doing so. If you’ve seen any of my other images you will have guessed by now that the soft focus is intentional. I like blur and the Lensbaby system helps me achieve the effect I’m looking for. 02 Can’t Run But

I have been away from here way too long again. Last time I was here was in March of 2011 and now it’s October. Seems like a lifetime ago. Even now I don’t have very much to say but I do have a new image to share with you. The photo was taken back in June when the boys and I took a road trip to New Mexico. We visited San Francisco de Asis Church in Ranchos de Taos, and like all good copycats I had to take at least one shot of the famous church. Nothing new or original in my shot but I got it out of my system and now I can get on with my life. Who needs a high end camera when you can this picture with your phone camera. The image was converted to sepia using Nik Software’s Silver Efex Pro 2. The music is A Que Le Llaman Distancia by Atahualpa Yupanqui.

The other day I was walking across the Pfluger Bridge on Lady Bird Lake when I came across a white bicycle that had been chained to the railing. It is painted entirely white and stands out in contrast to its surroundings. The bike was placed there in memory of  Royce Scott McCoy. He died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike. There is a plaque attached to the bicycle with a photograph of him holding a baby while his pet dog looks on. It is a powerful testament to a man who died way too young and is still missed. I did not know him but I was touched by his story.

I had my Nikon and my iPod Touch with me so I began to take pictures with both cameras knowing that this is a very special place. The image I have included today was shot with the iPod and is one in a series I have titled Ghost Bike. The rest of the images can be seen here. I will be adding more to the set as I work on them.

Lately I have been shooting a lot of images with my iPod Touch. There are so many camera Apps to choose from that there are literally endless possibilities for producing an image. Some of the applications let you choose the type of camera and film to shoot with. You also get a wide assortment of special effects you can apply to the image once it has been taken. You basically have the ability to control what the final image is going to look like by using the different options that come with the application. And if you’re having a hard time choosing, most of the Apps have a random feature that will make the choice for you. But where’s the fun in that? And did I mention that not only do you get to choose the camera, you can also choose the type of lens, the photo frame, and whether you want the final image in color, black and white, or both. I’m in love again.

For the image below I chose the LomoLomo App. I used the Tiltshift Camera, with the White Russian Lens, and the Old White Frame. I also added the sepia tone using Silver Efex Pro, by Nik Software, and added some texture using PhotoFrame, by OnOne Software. Like I said, endless possibilities.

Two Bicycles

It’s no secret that I love music nor is it a secret that I love to dance. Now that I have an iPod Touch I can shoot just about anything, anytime, anywhere. This time I shot my feet while I was dancing by myself. I love a good Merengue, (the pie and the dance), and if you like to dance then here is a tune that will get more than your feet moving. The song is Dulce, Salada by Elvis Crespo.
